  • The Powerful Benefits of Blogging for Small Businesses

Posted by Irvine on December 10, 2020 at 2:35 am

One of the most powerful ways to build brand awareness and sales for small businesses, is to share useful content with your customers and target audience, and the best way to do this is through consistent blogging.

    Here’s why:

    1. Blogging boosts your SEO score

All the major search engines love fresh, relevant and informative content, with bonus points if it’s also entertaining. Sites that don’t get updated fall into obscurity, but sites that keep themselves relevant, stay relevant to the search engines and are rewarded accordingly.

Creating fresh content gives Google, Bing and others fresh content to Index, and a reason to boost the authority and SEO score of your website.

Insert relevant keywords that match what your target audience would search for, to maximise the SEO return for your blogging efforts.

    2. Blogging develops your relationship with new and existing customers

It’s important to regularly engage with your customers to not be forgotten about.

Blogging provides you with the opportunity to do this in a friendly, conversational manner (if you can write in this tone).

Give your audience high quality, relevant content, and allow commenting on your blog so you can respond and build a relationship.

A conversation that can go both ways is how you build trust, not just in the person you’re responding to, but with everyone that can see you engaging with your followers.

    3. Blogging establishes yourself as an industry thought leader

No matter how small your business is, writing the best content will always get you noticed and give you clout in your industry.

Over time you can even become one of if not the “go to” informative blogs in your industry niche, leading to more inquiries for your business and increasing conversions.

    4. Blogging connects people to your brand

Brand awareness is perhaps the most important element of marketing, companies like Nike and Coca Cola spend millions if not billions on it. Blogging is one of the cheapest and most effective ways of building this brand awareness.

You can control what message you want to send, engage with your followers in the comment section, and target the kind of visitor you’re most ideally looking for.

By being inbound and writing content that your customers want to see, you open up yourself to customers in a way that outbound paid marketing can’t achieve.

    5. Blogging creates the opportunity for others to share your brand and your content with others

One of the most powerful benefits of writing good content, is that your visitors will want to share it with others. If you write content valuable to them, it’s more than likely they’ll know someone who also finds the content valuable, creating great word of mouth and social media sharing advertising.

A businesses fortunes can change overnight with the power of this and viral marketing. Never before could you grow exponentially so quickly, and for free.

Create as many opportunities as you can to share your content with Twitter, Facebook, and email sharing links.

All of these benefits are true, but even as an affiliate marketer and not a small business owner, blogging has proven massive to me not just to embed affiliate links, but to get traffic and trust as well.

    Great write-up.

Thanks for the write-up. I haven’t started blogging yet and am focusing on social, but creating a blog will give somewhere permanent for that traffic to go. And give me something I own. I can’t just rely on Facebook!
